Grand Strand Water and Sewer Authority, South Carolina

HUA completed the evaluation, engineering design, and construction management and inspection of the upgrade of the Grand Strand Water and Sewer Authority's Vereen WWTP from 2.5 MGD to 7.0 MGD. The upgrade was needed to improve effluent quality due to the implementation of total maximum daily load limits for dissolved oxygen on the Waccamaw River by SCDHEC. Due to the use of SRF funds, submittal of plans and specifications to SCDHEC was on an accelerated schedule, which HUA successfully met. Throughout the design process, the plans and specification were reviewed by staff engineers with GSW&SA to ensure their design requests were met and by SCDHEC because of the use of SRF funds and the implementation of the dissolved oxygen TMDL.
