Utility System Projects

HUA has surveyed many water and sewer systems in North and South Carolina. HUA uses its in-house surveyors for all its water and wastewater design and construction projects. Our surveyors have experience in monumentation and setting property lines for governmental purposes such as establishing extraterritorial jurisdiction, annexation areas, and Department of Defense property boundaries.

Site Development Projects

Our in-house surveying professionals also provided site surveying for all HUA site development projects including commercial, industrial, recreational, and residential projects. Surveying for these projects involve a wide range of facilities with many different types of components within each facility.

Following is a brief summary of general surveying projects not related to design or site development projects.

Camp Lejeune, North Carolina

Survey of proposed telephone cable crossings on several state-maintained waterways, including the Intracoastal Waterway and the New River. Prepared easement maps for state and application to acquire dredging permits for proposed crossings. Topographic survey and design of 30 miles of tank trails throughout Marine Corps Base.

Caswell County, North Carolina

Boundary survey of the County for the NC Geodetic Survey. Also set monuments at selected road crossings and the four corners of the county.

Columbus County, North Carolina

2,200 acre boundary survey and woodlands locations of Cattail Bay Farm.

Ft. Bragg and Hoke County, North Carolina

Retraced approximately four miles of boundary line between Fort Bragg Military Reservation and Hoke County, North Carolina. Survey crews identified and reestablished corners, identified encroachments, established GPS monumentation and performed courthouse and title research to firmly establish boundaries with the Hoke County Register of Deeds. All monuments, which were concrete based with brass disks per Dept. of Defense standards, were provided by the military reservation and tied to North Carolina Grid Coordinates. More than 50 land corners were established. Surveying services were performed to suburban boundary standard as defined by ACSM standards. Deliverables included the generation of mylar maps suitable for recordation at the Hoke County Register of Deeds. All maps were generated per strict military contract standards.

Foxfire Resort & Country Club, Moore County, North Carolina

300-acre boundary survey for golf course transfer to new ownership.

Red Springs, North Carolina

Boundary survey as assurance that the acreage was correct and to know the physical location of all corners. The finished product was a final map prepared for recording, a metes and bounds description, and a surveyor's title insurance report. The initial investigation revealed that all NCGS control monuments within two miles were destroyed. Previous survey information was utilized to establish the NAD 83 base meridian for the survey. Discrepancies between title information and physical evidence were identified and either resolved or illustrated on the final map. Thirty-three monuments were recovered or set at property corners and along the boundaries. Additional physical evidence (ditches, overhead electric lines, private roads and public right of way) influencing the property's title was surveyed and illustrated on the final map. This map illustrated 83.64 acres and its relationship to major roads.
