Fayetteville, North Carolina
This project developed population projections and growth analysis and incorporated engineering data relating to their citywide sewer system in order to project future flows throughout the region. Using ArcView as an interface to generate this data, HUA defined areas of deficiency and developed project schedules for future facilities planning and expansion. Data was entered into hydraulic software via an HUA-created computer interface that made data integration virtually seamless. This included pulling existing data from the Commission's ArcInfo GIS database to be imported into XP/XTRAN, the hydraulic modeling software for the project. This information was then exported out of XPTRAN into the final GIS dataset.
This project received a 1998 Engineering Excellence Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies of North Carolina. Projects that receive these awards are judged on criteria such as overall innovation, exceeding client expectations, number of people served, future value to the engineering industry, and social and economic benefits. |
